Spokane Public Radio Presents: Anne Garrels

Anne Garrels, Author will be in discussion with Spokane Public Radio's (SPR) Doug Nadvornic at the Bing Crosby Theater! Garrels is a former NPRSenior Foreign Correspondent who has reported from Russia and other former Soviet republics, the former Yugoslavia, the Middle East, China, Mongolia, and Iraq. She has written two books: "Putin Country: A Journey into the Real Russia" about the lives of the Russian people after the USSR's collapse, and "Naked in Baghdad" which explores the war in Iraq.

Garrels won a Courage in Journalism Award from the International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) in 2003 and the George Polk Award for Radio Reporting in 2004. She was also honored with a Peabody Award in 2004 for going above and beyond the call of journalistic duties in her coverage of the Iraq War.

Proceeds of this event benefit SPR KPBX 91.1, KSFC 91.9 and KPBZ 90.3. Auntie's Bookstore will be providing copies of Garrels' books for purchase at this event. We look forward to seeing you there!
