Rhiannon McGavin + Afaria McKinney: Spoken Words

You may have seen this phenomenal writer and spoken word poet rock your screen in 2014 when she appeared on the The Queen Latifah Show with Belissa Escobedo and Zariya Allen as representatives of southern California's Get Lit: Words Ignite program: http://bit.ly/1ww8CPS

Rhiannon McGavin is an internationally-selling poet from Los Angeles. She has performed original poetry on Grace Cavalieri's "Poet and the Poem" podcast; NPR, and at multiple venues across the nation. McGavin is a 2016 YoungArts Finalist in Writing for Spoken Word, and is the current Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate. Her book of poems, BRANCHES, was published in June and will be available for purchase at the event.

McGavin will be opened by Spokane spoken word poet Afaria McKinney aka AJ. McKinney is the oldest of eight children and the first in his family to graduate university. McKinney enjoys meeting new friends and having conversations with those who are willing to listen.
