February is Black History month, and author Jerrelene Williamson keeps it local as she highlights the stories of black culture and tradition in Spokane in her book, African American in Spokane. Much of our African American community got its start with the closure of coal mines in Roslyn.  Ms. Williamson is a founding member of the Spokane NW Black Pioneers, and her book is full of fascinating biographies with many photos by pioneer photographer Wallace Hagin.
