Jamie Ford: Reading + Signing (Ticketed Event)
In 2013, Auntie's Bookstore had the honor of hosting Jamie Ford for the paperback version of his title, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. It was a lovely, amazing evening, and we'd like to announce that Mr. Ford will be returning to Spokane for the release of his newest book, Love and Other Consolation Prizes (Pub July 12, 2017; ISBN: 978-0-8041-7675-0; Hardcover $28.00; 320 pages; Ballantine Books). Described by his publicist as, "uncovering forgotten history thorugh great storytelling," Love and Other Consolation Prizes was inpired by the story of a baby given away as a prize at the Alaska-Yukon Pacific Exposition of 1909. Instantly intrigued by the Seattle Times article covering this grand story, Ford absolutely knew this was a narrative that needed to be written. At once both unforgettable and poignant, this novel is one of Ford's greatest tales.
Join us on Thursday, September 14th at 7pm to listen and discuss this gripping story. Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 10 at 9am. Seating is limited and on a first-come first-served basis. To receive a ticket to this event you must purchase the hardcover or audiobook of Ford's Love and Other Consolation Prizes. Auntie's Bookstore will be closed at 7pm to non-ticket holders, and will reopen at approximately 8pm. We hope you can join us for this exciting evening!
