Devin Devine + Tony Russell: Crime Noir Signing
Though this duo does not limit themselves to fiction, Devin Devine and Tony Russell, came together in the early stages of their relationship to create the collaborative series Kiss the Messenger. The first of the series was released last August in a fiendish and whiskey whirlwind. Now having spent the last year expanding their story, they bring back Mal and Stevie and paint Spokane with the dirt, sleaze, and noir it deserves. “We wanted to write a love letter to the city, but Spokane has a hard time showing just anyone that side.”
In volume two of Kiss the Messenger, Spokane’s own drunk vigilante Mal finds himself scrambling to put together clues as women continue to go missing and more show up dead. While hunting for the serial killer with a taste for local prostitutes, Mal and his unusual sidekick/reformed hooker Stevie attempt to lay low. But when Mal’s best friend Reggie goes missing, he and Stevie must get creative with their hide out while clues continue to surface. Join the hunt as authors Devine and Russell make sure Spokane provides yet another fascinating search for a serial killer.
Devin Devine and Tony Russell consider themselves writers, performers, and comedians. Both proclaimed Spokane natives, the two hope their series highlights not only the grime that we hate, but the grit that we love. Kiss The Messenger is their first collaborative project about a crime noir series set in their hometown of Spokane, Washington.
